Boom Boom Bautista Loses

"Filipino super bantamweight Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista lost what could have been his ticket to a world title shot after absorbing an upset via a unanimous decision from Mexican fighter Heriberto “Cuate” Ruiz in the undercard of the Hatton-Malignaggi fight Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas.

The bout was supposed to be Bautista’s ticket to another world title shot. It was Bautista’s second career loss against 26 wins (with 19 KOs) after losing a title fight to Daniel Ponce de Leon in August 2007.

"His girlfriend, whose identity he wants to keep private, was one of his friends even before he entered the Pinoy Big Brother house as a Teen housemate back in 2006. After his two-year romance with fellow Teen housemate Olyn Meimban ended, many wonder if the young actor now wants to date only non-showbiz girls. “Hindi naman sa ganun. Actually kahit naman showbiz or non-showbiz okay naman sa akin. Basta yung tipong seryoso talaga ang gusto ko,” he admits.
