He is an American actor, born in Sudbury, Massachusetts of Irish and Italian descent. He starred as the Human Torch “The Fantastic Four”, released Last July 8, 2005.The film was a major hit, and garnered him critical acclaim. He will reprise his role in the upcoming flick Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

He decided he wanted to be an actor during his junior year of high school. He interned at a casting office in New York during the following summer whilst also taking acting lessons. During that summer he met an agent who helped him start his acting career by getting him a role in the TV series Opposite Sex. However it was his starring role in the 2001 comedy film “Not Another”, Teen Movie that brought him major attention. The film contained a somewhat notorious spoof of the Varsity Blues movies where (to attract the attention of a girl), after this film he went on to co-star in both “The Perfect Score”, “Cellular”, and “The Orphan King”. He quickly garnered a loyal fan base due to his good looks and affable personality.

Love Me Again

Star Cinema brings together once again, for the first time on the big screen, Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin, in the much-awaited film, "Love Me Again: Land Down Under".

For the first time in Philippine Film Industry, the world premiere of this project is set to happen in the United States, coinciding with the Star Cinema International Film Festival. Filipino audiences in that area will have the chance to watch the movie and get a chance to meet Piolo and Angel with Sam Milby, who will screen his last movie with Star Cinema, My Big Love!

John “Sweet” Lapus gives his all-out support to friend Judy Ann Santos!

Maybe this is one reason why John Lapus earned for himself the nickname, “Sweet.” Sure, he has his own explanation as to how the moniker came about; but seeing the TV host/comedian emceeing last week in Judy Ann Santos’ fundraising event Damit Para Kay Ploning confirms that John Lapus is also known as Sweet because, well, he’s a sweet friend.

The event held at Plaza Ibarra, Tomas Morato was to raise funds and lobby Judy Ann’s film Ploning into the Best Foreign Film category in the 2009 Academy Awards in Hollywood. Sweet, Judai, her best friend Beth Tamayo, and comedienne Candy Pangilinan, among others, took turns as auctioneer during Damit Para Kay Ploning. They hosted and entertained the bidders, who laughed at their impromptu spiels and gushed over the vast collection of items up for bid. Prior to the auction, Judai staged fundraising dinners at the home of Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez. It was well-attended and supported by the actress’ celebrity friends, including Sweet, who even shared some pictures of the get-together in one of his recent KText journals.

Despite the fact that Sweet is working outside of ABS-CBN, he still remains a Kapamilya as a contract artist of Star Magic and Kapamilya KText. He has said before during the height of his controversial network switch that he owes ABS-CBN too much to ever let go. In fact, it was in ABS-CBN where he met Judai through a common friend, Dante Nico Garcia, the director of Ploning. -Abs-Cbn.com-

Wine-Red Filipiniana Suit: Karylle

Karylle, handpicked by boxing champ Manny Pacquiao to sing the Philippine National Anthem at the Pacquiao-dela Hoya dream match in Las Vegas on December 6, will don an Albert Figueras creation.

New York-based Figueras will create a stunning wine-red Filipiniana terno for the statuesque singer. The basic gown, cut in a serpentine line with a heart-shaped neckline for the bodice, will be draped with checkered dupione silk. It will have a silk tapis woven with a checkered pattern of lines in a cacophony of colors of lively red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, and pink; superimposed on paisley and royal blue acanthus leaves outlined with Mutzumo cut beads, and glass beads with hologram of flat sequins. The tapis will take on a new look by way of embroidery and beadwork embellishments giving it a scalloped finish. -Abs-Cbn.com-
